Pellet presses can be divided into two types according to their working principle: the roller rotating pellet press and the die rotating pellet press. When the former one works, the rollers in the machine will rotate, while the die keeps stationary. On the contrary, the die rotates while the rollers are stationary in the die turning pellet press. Both of the two machines work by compressing to raw materials in the space between the two components.

Also the pellet presses can be classified according to their dive mode. There are four types of drive modes: electric, diesel, gasoline and PTO. They are all characterized by flexibility, compact structure, and tiny body. Families, even those who live near the farm having access to raw material easily would prefer them.
